IT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED A WORKING GROUP FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INTERNATIONAL ACCELERATOR PROJECT FOR STARTUPS FROM UKRAINE AND ISRAEL

November 10, 2021 - Today, the first online meeting of the working group of the International accelerator project for startups from Ukraine and Israel took place upon the initiative of the Ukrainian-Israeli technology platform Global Israeli Initiative.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the public and business sectors of Ukraine and Israel: The Embassy of Ukraine in Israel, the Council of Exporters and Investors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Municipality of Netanya and Sigma Software - one of the leading technology companies in Eastern Europe which is based in Ukraine.
The key goal of the communication was to create a common platform for the open dialogue and idea exchange on the development of a clear algorithm for further project implementation. Each of the parties confirmed readiness to be actively involved in the development of a profound action plan.
“You can count on the active participation of the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel in this project and in the process of creating an International Accelerator for startups. I am sure that this project will open wide prospects for technological cooperation between two countries at an absolutely new level,” said Yevhen Korniychuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the State of Israel.
Olena Novhorodska, the initiator of the project and Director General of the NGO Global Israeli Initiative, noted: “We can see one of the first examples of Ukrainian-Israeli public and private partnership in action. A thorough and comprehensive approach, prioritization of directions, algorithms and conditions are needed to implement this large-scale project. But the most importantly is that authoritative partners look in the same direction and have the same vision in the process of implementation of the idea. “Viam supervadet vadens” - the road will be overpowered by the walking one!”
It was decided to develop a joint document during the meeting - a short questionnaire with key technological requests of the Ukrainian and Israeli sides.
According to Irena Lifshitz, director of the Netanya municipality's business development department, the Israeli partners are ready to implement the project and provide comprehensive support from both state and municipal structures. Large-scale technology companies are ready to take a part too.
” On the one hand, we have Israel with advanced technologies, great experience of startups and a network of venture funds and private smart-investors, on the other hand – it is Ukraine as a leading technology hub in the center of Europe with a pool of talented professional engineers and IT-specialists who dynamically develop culture of startup entrepreneurship. We clearly see the points of intersection, open opportunities for experience sharing and joint collaboration, "said Ms. Irena.
It is necessary to admit that the first meeting of the Ambassador of Ukraine, Yevhen Korniychuk, with the Mayor of Netanya, Miriam Fairberg, took place at the end of October. As a result of this meeting, the parties agreed to work together on a number of projects. One the project is the creation and launching of the International Accelerator for Startups and Commercial Projects in Netanya, Israel.
